24.09.2010We initially thought that we would begin to harvest on September 23rd but as the weather has been gorgeous the 5 past days maturity has evolved very quickly and we began harvesting the first vineyards in Meursault this Monday and Clos des Mouches blanc this Tuesday.
Many domains located in the villages of the Côte de Beaune area also began on Monday and it was very nice to see all the pickers getting organized in the vineyards row of Puligny and Chassagne.
The first grapes which have been picked show nice alcoholic potential and even better than expected.
This is certainly due to the larger proportion of millerand. The acidity levels remain good because nights have been quite cool.
The potential yields expected will be lower than 2009, maybe around 20%.
In the Côte de Nuits area things are doing well. The grapes are nice although heterogeneous.
Skins of the berries are thick which is a good quality factor.
In Chablis potential alcoholic degrees are satisfactory with still a refreshing acidity level. We have picked most of the Chablis villages and will continue with the premiers crus in the next days as the weather forecasts remain good.
