Summery weather boosts growth in the vineyard
The meteorological conditions of these last 15 days, really summery, with beautiful, dry, luminous weather; hot during the day, and cool at night, has favoured very rapid growth in the vineyard. With the water reserves accumulated in April / May and this strong sunshine, part of the delay observed this spring is starting to be made up for. Flowering is almost complete for the whole of the Beaujolais vineyard, except for the later ripening, high altitude plots. The sanitary condition is now satisfactory.
We have been able to begin to estimate the harvest potential, homogeneous from the north to the south of Beaujolais, which could be greater than that expected before flowering.
One of the big uncertainties will remain the weight and size of the grapes at harvest, which will depend on the weather during the summer months. We estimate that the harvest could start between September the 10th and 15th, which is a perfectly normal date.
Good news then!
