A change in the weather !
After an early summer in June when the flowering occurred in good conditions, the weather totally shifted to a rainy and cold regime. The cumulative precipitation is very much higher than normal for the month of July and the temperatures are very cool.
Under these conditions the pressure from disease, so far contained, has become very strong.
All the teams have devoted a phenomenal amount of time in their vines to protect the harvest but it hasn't been easy due to the regular rains.
Today the foliage is partially affected but the clusters remain healthy.
The harvest potential has not changed and will probably be lower than after flowering because there is finally millerandage throughout the vineyard.
The weather forecast for the next 15 days is good, with the weather shaping up to be pretty summery; and the harvest dates remain around September the 15th.
